Welcome to the new eShuttle!
Mar 15, 2013
As most of you have heard, we're changing the way we send out email newsletters. We've written this handy little guide to help you understand how the changes affect you and show you how to get the most out of the new format.
What are the changes exactly?
We will continue to post eShuttle information right here on our website. We are now calling this section of our website, our eShuttle -- or AVL eShuttle Blog. We will also now categorize our eShuttle posts so that you can sign up to receive notices for the types of posts you want to see and only the types of posts you want to see. Our categories are AVL Looms Promotions, Software Updates, AVL News/Just for Fun, and Weaving News and Events. When a new post is made on our website under one of your selected categories, you will receive an email linking you to the eShuttle Blog post. If you want to read more, you can click Read More or click on the title of the post and it will take you to our website where you can read the full post.
In our initial setup, you are subscribed to all categories. To change your subscription at any time, click the Update Subscription Preferences link located at the bottom of our emails. If you wish to unsubscribe, you can safely do so at any time as well, by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails.
If you are not currently signed up for our email notices, you can sign up now by filling out your name, email and category preferences in the form you see to the right of your screen. If you do not select any categories, you will automatically receive posts for all categories.
But I heard something about Facebook?
Another great thing about our new system is that it automatically updates our Facebook fan page each time we post new content to the eShuttle Blog. Did you know that AVL has had a Facebook fan page for many years? And no, you do not need to have a Facebook account to receive email updates from our website; however, if you are on Facebook, we encourage you to visit and like our page!
How often will I receive emails and what kinds of emails will I receive?
We update our eShuttle blog on our website about once a month on average and may update it more frequently if there are time-sensitive posts to make or important updates. As to the type of emails - that will depend on which categories you are signed up for.
If you are signed up for AVL Looms Promotions, you will receive notices of sales or special discounts and promotions being offered by AVL Looms and AVL Looms only. We don't sell or distribute your information to anyone else. If you are signed up for Software Updates, you will be notified of updates to software programs that AVL offers, such as WeavePoint, WeaveMaker, Jacqpoint or AVLDrive. If you are signed up for AVL News and Just for Fun, you will receive email updates for any posts that relate to our company, any fun things that we're doing or any other awesome things we might like to share. If you're signed up for Weaving News and Events, you will receive updates on any weaving related news or events that are not being hosted by AVL, but have been brought to our attention, and that which we felt would be good to share with the rest of our AVL family.
Which category will Little Weaver news be included?
We will post any Little Weaver news in the AVL News and Just for Fun category. So make sure you are signed up for that one if you're interested!
Why did you change the way you do eShuttle?
We have reached the point where we have outgrown our ability to manage a manual list of subscribers and send out manual email newsletters. We realized that we needed a more dynamic way to handle the eShuttle, but we wanted to keep all our content on our own website where all our customers could access it whenever they wanted. We learned about MailChimp to send out our emails, thanks to a suggestion from a longtime AVL customer. We were delighted to find that MailChimp had a way to manage our subscriptions in a safe way and was able to send out emails automatically any time we update our eShuttle on our website and as a bonus would also post that link on our Facebook page. Using MailChimp means that you will now get your email updates more reliably and you can manage your subscription to get exactly what you want and nothing that you don't! It also means that we'll have more time to put together more of the content that you want to see. Win:Win!
