Experts have estimated there are 80,000 weavers in the United States. At AVL, our three decades of experience have shown that not all weavers are alike. You have different reasons for weaving, whether it is to provide income, develop camaraderie, or explore texture and color. Professional Weaver - much debate can be heard over what a professional weaver is. In the most general of terms, a professional weaver is someone who weaves fabric, then sells the fabric.

Complex Pattern Weaver - most consider this weaving patterns requiring 16 or more harnesses.

Hobby Weaver - Do you weave for leisure? Are you just starting out? Then, this is you.

Rug Weaver - rug weaving takes a very sturdy loom with special features to match the ultra-high warp tension typically desired.

Educational Environment - schools strive to offer the latest technologies in weaving and they also need a loom that stands up to the rigors of the classroom.

Fabric or Yarn Sampling - when sampling demand requires a dedicated loom.
