1. Introducing AVL 40: We hinted about it in past e-shuttles and now you, our dear and devoted e-shuttle readers, are the first to know about the exciting new product we will be debuting at Convergence 2000!

Introducing AVL 40! ...the Ultimate Dobby Loom from AVL Looms

A Complete System

AVL 40 is the most far-reaching and most technically sophisticated loom to ever be produced by AVL. Years of development have resulted in the world's first regularly produced 40 harness loom.

40 harnesses. Just think of the possibilities. There are over one trillion different design combinations... and that's before you add color. Best of all, the 40 harnesses are on an AVL loom, so you will still benefit from the same great features that have made AVL the most respected name in the handweaving world. Compu-Dobby®, Automatic Warp Tension, Automatic Cloth Storage System, Single-Box Flyshuttle Beater, and a High Capacity Sectional Beam are all standard equipment with AVL 40. Automatic Cloth Advance, Selvage Rollers, and over 120 other options are also available.

21st Century Technology

AVL 40 is more than a loom. It's a complete system that includes a fully functioning stand-alone computer and WeavePoint 40, the new 40 shaft software from AVL. WeavePoint 40 can not only control the loom, but now features the capacity to preview painted warps and includes a new block substitution capability that is crucial to make best use of all 40(!) shafts.

And don't worry if you want to continue to use one of the twelve other software packages that are AVL-compatible. As long as your software can export a WIF 1.1 file, then AVL 40 can weave it.

eLift© Arrives

By now you may be wondering how you are going to lift 40 harnesses. Your worry is over because the lift is controlled by the system. eLift is here.

eLift uses a stepping motor similar, albeit much larger, to the motors found in floppy disk drives. So, there are no treadles; just a simple foot pedal. Tromp once and the harnesses go up. Tromp again and they gently go down. Remarkably, there are no special power requirements for eLift. It simply plugs into your wall. No muss. No fuss. No worry.

If you already have an air compressor, then you may wish to substitute airLift for eLift. The airLift is a similar system as found on the popular AVL Professional Dobby Rug Loom; so it's tried, true, and very reliable.

Our Legendary Service Just Got a Lot Better

Ask any AVL owner and they'll tell you about our world class service department. We've been helping AVL owners via telephone for over twenty years now. But the times, they are a changin'. So now AVL 40 comes with AVL ServiceCAM, which allows you to show us exactly what you're talking about. Simply point the ServiceCAM at the part in question and immediately we'll see it on our computer - via the Internet, of course.

AVL ServiceCAM is based on emerging WebCAM technology. All you'll need to do is plug it into a phone line, connect to an Internet Service Provider, and voila! the 21st century will have arrived in your studio.

If you're not attending Convergence (there's still time!), then give us a ring ... but please wait until we return. We'll be back on June 27.

2. Convergence Discounts. What's a show without discounts? We won't disappoint in Cincinnati. We're offering discounts in goods and services (a free Weaving Cartridge and a free class at the fabulous AVL Weaving School) or 4.99% financing. And don't forget, we'll be selling the new Warping Wheel. Plus there will be discounts on AVL software and more. Such a deal!

3. Painted Warps and More! The new WeavePoint 5.3 will be unveiled at Convergence as well and its most distinct new feature is the ability to incorporate PAINTED WARPS into your design process (hey, maybe we should rename it WeavePAINT???). But that's not all, our Jasmina Paçek has been working overtime with WeavePoint/Paint author, Bjørn Myhre, to bring a fully functioning block substitution capability to the software. Please don't miss a demo of 5.3; it just might revolutionize your design process.

4. See us there. Watch out Ken Griffey Jr., because the heavy hitters from AVL Looms are coming to town. Leading off is all-around customer relations guru, Stacy McMillan. Batting second is teaching whiz and software analyst, Jasmina Paçek. In the third spot, wily veteran of more Convergences than he can remember, Peter Straus. And batting clean-up, the hot new rookie who has brought AVL to new heights, Matt Taylor. Don't miss any of them!

See you in Cincinnati!
