AVL LAUNCHES NEW WEAVING COURSES
Chico, CA --- AVL Looms, Inc. announces new courses for beginner and advanced weavers with classes starting the week of June 20, 2005. First up is Basically AVL, a course geared towards the newer AVL user or anyone wanting to become more comfortable with their AVL-designed loom. It is running Monday through Tuesday, 6/20-21 with a price of $295. Next is our Basically Structure course. This more advanced class targets weavers who want to get the most from their multi-shaft loom through a better understanding of complex weave structure. This course is designed around weavers who want to design and create unique and beautiful textiles. Basically Structure will run 6/21-6/23 with a price of $495. Additionally, we designed the classes to be taken during the same week to save our students on travel expenses.
The Basically AVL course replaces our old Maximizing Your AVL course. By reducing the course from three to two days, we've been able to focus on the most essential elements to assembling, weaving, and maintaining your AVL. Most importantly this change allows us to reduce the course price by 40%. "I am excited that the new format will enable us to increase the frequency of class offerings," exclaimed Sue Luna, AVL Weaving Instructor. We want more people to experience the ease of use, speed, and quality of weaving that can only come from an AVL.
Basically Structure is a completely new class designed by our weaving instructors, Jannie Taylor and Sue Luna. The class curriculum is three days focusing on various multi-shaft weave structures. Students will experience 16-shaft point twill, 24-shaft Summer & Winter, 24-shaft Huck Lace, 16-shaft network twill, and a mystery weave based on pre-class input from the students. Each pattern will be warped up on our 16 and 24 harness Compu-Dobby® Looms and woven on by the students. "Having no treadle constraints opens endless opportunities for creating great textiles." noted Jannie Taylor.
We've taken customer feedback very seriously and hope that the updated instructional program will hit the mark. We are also considering adding additional course topics; such as getting the most out of your design software and the effects of color in multi-shaft weaves. We would love to hear your thoughts on these topics and any additional ideas you might have. Please email your comments to sluna@avlusa.com.
